About TCM

TCM^© is a software application, designed for Transit Agencies, to monitor and evaluate train movements and the associated track circuit occupancies for integrity and plausibility – in Realtime. The TCM tool issues notifications and alerts upon detection of abnormal operation. If included in daily operations and maintenance, TCM increases equipment reliability and transportation safety.

TCM directly addresses National Transportation Safety Board recommendations # R-09-6 and # R-09-7. The TCM System is promoted by APTA as a Recommended Practice to identify LOS conditions.

The TCM system was developed initially by WMATA as an LOS tool. In order to make it available to other Mass Transit agencies as a standardized application, Rail IT® adopted and enhanced TCM to a generally available solution that complies with general Information Technology norms. TCM is under product management by Rail IT to keep it up to date with IT trends and standards as well as enhancing the product with frequently asked features by its end users.
